The area of Arredondo is considered to be an unincorporated community that can be located within Alachua County which is a county populated by 278,468 residents within the 2020 census. The community itself is actually located pretty close to Gainesville, with only a 7-mile difference.

With the advantageous location and highways placed within the area, they have become recognized and established as a shipping station on the Florida Railroad that ran from Fernandina through Gainesville to Cedar Key, it has then absorbed one of the earlier communities that were called Kanapaha.

Later on, the Floridan railroad had become a part of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad because of this decision, the line from Archer to Cedar Key was left abandoned in the year 1932. Later on, in the year 1970, the tracks were officially demolished. The name of the community was derived from a Spanish land grant that includes much of Alachua County and parts of Levy and Marion counties — Arredondo Grant.
